Improve WiFi Coverage with Linksys RE7000 Setup and RE6300 Setup Tips

Linksys RE7000 & RE6300 are two WiFi range extenders. These extenders will connect with your home WiFi router via cable or WPS, and will bring a lot of WiFi coverage in your house.

You will get the signals in the corners and dead zones of the house after connecting these WiFi range extenders. Here, we provide full and correct instructions to set the device with your router and improve the coverage. Lets start with what are these devices.

Linksys RE7000 and RE6300 Devices
? Linksys RE7000 Setup Thats the new model of extender, more powerful one. Dual-band, MU-MIMO, handles more devices.
? Linksys RE6300 setup A bit older extender, still solid. Dual-band too, but dont expect miracles with range or speed if your main router's trash.

The Linksys RE6300 setup & Linksys RE7000 setup process? Pretty much the same for both. Youre either going to use WPS (the lazy method) or go manual with a browser. Spoiler: WPS usually works, until it doesnt. well walk you through both.

Option 1: The WPS Route
Your router must have a WPS button (its usually labeled). The extender plugged in halfway between your router and the dead zone.
Steps:
? Plug in the extender. Wait for the orange/amber light to go steady. Not blinking. Steady. Be patient.
? Hit the WPS button on your router. Dont hold it. Just press it once.
? Within 1 minute, press the WPS button on the extender. RE7000: Button is on the side. RE6300: Also, on the side. Labelled clearly.
? Wait for the light to turn solid green (or white for RE7000). Thats your green light literally.
? Done. Your extender is now repeating your WiFi. The new network name will be like: YourWiFiName_EXT
Troubleshooting tip: If the light turns red or blinking amber after a while. yeah, it didnt work. Jump to manual setup.

Option 2: Manual Setup (Browser method)
If WPS is not working, then you should go for the browser method (manually). Phone, laptop, or anything with WiFi and a browser. Know your main WiFi name and password.
Steps:
? Plug in the extender. Wait for that steady amber/orange light again.
? On your phone/laptop, connect to: Linksys Extender Setup (should show in WiFi list). No password needed. Just connect.
? Open browser. Type in: http://extender.linksys.com or 192.168.1.1. If it doesnt load, refresh. If still dead, try a different device.
? Youll land on the setup page. Agree to the terms. Skip the "Smart Setup" if it gets stuck. Just click through.
? Choose your main WiFi network. Enter your WiFi password when prompted. Itll ask you to confirm SSID for both 2.4GHz and 5GHz. You can use same or rename with _EXT.
? Hit finish. Wait for it to configure. Once it says setup complete, the setup is completed.

Quick Pro Tips

? Placement matters.

Plugging the extender too close to the router is pointless. Too far? Weak signal. Go halfway. Use the LED indicator green/white = good, amber = meh, red = nope.

? Device keeps disconnecting?

Log into the extender (same method, extender.linksys.com) and update the firmware. Linksys is notorious for buggy firmware.

? Still no internet after setup?

Reboot both your router and extender. Because it fixes half the issues 90% of the time.

? Factory reset if all else fails:

Hold the reset button (tiny hole) for 10 seconds. Light should blink, then go back to amber. Now start over.

Re-do the Linksys Setup

? Open a web browser and type the extender.linksys.com or IP 192.168.1.1.
? Login page on the screen will show up, enter the admin username and password to access the interface.
? Now, choose the router network and enter the password which connects your extender with the router.
? Next page: enter the extended network SSID username and password, you can also choose the same as your router.
? Finish the setup and let the extender reboot. Then you can re-connect with the extender network easily.
