Powered by Apple’s new A19 Pro chip, both smartphones promise up to 40 percent better sustained performance compared to previous generations. The six-core CPU and GPU, coupled with dedicated neural accelerators, enable faster processing for demanding apps, gaming, and AI-driven tasks. The iPhone 17 Pro series also introduces a vapour chamber cooling system, ensuring higher efficiency during extended heavy workloads.
The devices sport 6.3-inch (Pro) and 6.9-inch (Pro Max) Super Retina XDR displays with ProMotion 120Hz refresh rate and peak outdoor brightness of 3,000 nits. Apple’s Ceramic Shield 2 coating provides 3x better scratch resistance. Notably, the new models return to an aluminum body, while the iPhone 17 Air adopts a titanium frame. A unibody design with a full-width camera plateau completes the premium aesthetic.
Photography gets a significant boost with a triple 48-megapixel rear camera setup, including ultrawide and telephoto lenses. The telephoto lens alone is 56% larger than its predecessor, offering 8x optical zoom and 40x digital zoom, while the front camera has been upgraded to 18 megapixels with Centre Stage for dynamic framing.
Both models run on iOS 26, featuring the new Liquid Glass interface and Apple Intelligence AI features. Users gain Live Translation in Messages, FaceTime, and Phone apps, along with enhanced visual intelligence tools and improved call and message screening.
Apple confirmed pre-orders for the iPhone 17 Pro series start September 12, with a global sale beginning September 19. Prices in India begin at Rs 1,34,900 for the Pro and Rs 1,49,900 for the Pro Max, available in Cosmic Orange, Deep Blue, and Silver.
